Confirm proper installation of the battery and ensure that the AC adapters are securely plugged in. You should only use the VTech AC adapters provided with your baby monitor. Make sure the electrical outlet is working and not controlled by a wall switch.
Make sure the Parent and Baby Units are turned on.
The Parent Unit may be too far away from the Baby Unit. Try moving them closer together; however, not closer than 3 feet.
Try resetting the Parent and Baby Unit:
Step 1. Disconnect the power to the Baby and Parent Units.
Step 2. Remove the battery from the Parent Unit.
Step 3. Wait a few minutes.
Step 4. Resinstall the battery and connect the AC adapters to the Baby and Parent Units.
Step 5. Allow up to a minute for the system to synchronize.
Noise, static and other erratic performance may be caused by nearby electronic equipment and other cordless devices using the same frequency. Separate your baby monitor from these devices as much as possible.
-
Ensure that you are using power outlets that are known to be working and not controlled by a wall switch.
Make sure the AC adapters are firmly connected to the power outlets and Parent and Baby Units.
The power switch for the Parent Unit is located on the upper right hand edge. Press to turn the unit on and establish a connection with the Baby Unit.
The ON/OFF switch for the Baby Unit is located on its base. Ensure it is switched to the ON position.
NOTE: If the Parent Unit is running on its rechargeable battery, the battery may be drained. Connect the AC adapter to provide power to the unit and recharge the battery.
Squealing coming from Parent Unit
-
The units may be too close to each other.
Ensure that Parent and Baby Units are separated by a minimum of three feet / 1 meter.
Parent Unit is reacting too quickly to random sounds other than from my child.
- The Baby Unit may pick up sounds other than those of your child. Adjust the sensitivity level on the Parent Unit to a lower level, or reduce the speaker volume.
I cannot hear my child on the Parent Unit
-
Try increasing the sensitivity level on the Parent Unit. The Baby Unit may not detect sounds when the sensitivity level is set too low. To adjust the sensitivity:
Step 1. Make sure the Parent and Baby Units are turned On.
Step 2. Press MENU/SELECT on the Parent Unit.
Step 3. Press ▼ or ▲ to choose SENSITIVITY, then press MENU/SELECT.
Step 4. Press ▼ or ▲ to choose a desired Baby Unit or all Baby Unts.
Step 5. Press ► or ◄ to scroll through the choices; Level 1-5; then press MENU/SELECT to confirm.
Step 6. Press BACK/+ to exit programming.
Try increasing the volume on your Parent Unit by pressing VOL, then ▲.
Parent Unit beeps and is not working normally
-
Make sure the Baby Unit is turned on.
Move the Parent Unit closer to the Baby Unit, but not closer than 1 meter / 3 feet.
If you are using the Parent Unit in cordless mode, the battery may be low and requires recharging. A full charge takes 12 hours.
Reset the system by disconnecting power from both units, waiting at least one minute, then reconnecting power. Allow time for the two units to link to each other.
Nearby DECT 6.0 cordless phones or other electronic devices may be interfering with the baby monitor. Separate these devices as far apart as possible.
-
If you have two cameras make sure that both are powered up (especially if your Parent Unit is set to patrol mode).
Wi-Fi devices can cause interference. Place the Parent Unit and camera(s) 3 feet away from laptops, tablets, cell phone, router, security cameras and other wireless streaming devices (FYI: your baby monitor operates on the same frequency as WIFI and you may experience interference if the devices are too close to each other).
The Parent Unit may be too far away from the Baby Unit. Walls, big metallic objects and other Wi-Fi devices may affect the connection between your Parent Unit and your camera(s). Try to move your Parent Unit (e.g. closer to camera or away from Wi-Fi devises) to find better reception.
