Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my baby monitor not connecting/streaming to the mobile app?
-
Tip 1: Ensure your WiFi internet service within your home is working.
Tip 2: Make sure that the pie shaped WiFi symbol next to each camera on the parent unit is on and white. If the symbol does not appear then you need to establish this connection by going to Settings > Configure Wi-Fi on your parent unit. If the symbol is visible but is red, then there is no connection to the home Wi-Fi network and the camera will not be visible on the app.
Tip 3: Make sure mobile data (or WiFi with an internet connection) is turned on on the mobile device the app is installed on and that good internet connectivity is available.
Tip 4: Install the correct App for your baby monitor. For VTech baby monitors, use the My VTech Baby Plus app . Make sure you have the correct app installed based on your monitor's brand.
Tip 5: Try refreshing the app screen by dragging your finger down in the main app screen.
Tip 6: Log out of the app and log back into the app.
Tip 7: Remove the camera from the app, power the camera off for 30 seconds, then on, then re-pair the camera to the app.
Tip 8: Remove the camera from the app, delete the app, and re-install. Power the camera off for 30 seconds, then re-pair the camera to the app.

Tip 1: The parent unit by default has the letters capitalized on the keyboard. Please remove all caps where you need to in order to put in your WiFi password correctly.
Tip 2: Is the WiFi network you are connecting to the 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz? All Vtech IP cams/baby monitors connect to the 2.4Ghz network and at times may not detect the 5Ghz network if in case you do not see your network at all.
Tip 3: Are there any special characters in your WiFi password or SSID (broadcast name) ? If so, see if you can remove all special characters from your password and try connecting to WiFi again. Once the unit is able to connect and update the software version, you will be able to connect to WiFi using a WiFi password that contains special characters
Tip 4: Do you know what the security option is set on your WiFi equipment? Our baby monitors will connect to the following security options: WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK and the WPA-PSK[TKIP] + WPA2-PSK[AES]. We recommend WPA2-PSK with AES
Tip 5: Make sure that your router has DHCP enabled. This allows it to provide the necessary IP address to the camera you wish to connect (Static IP addresses are currently not supported by the app).
Tip 6: Keep your router clear of interference. Ensure that there are no devices near your router or camera that could cause interference. Such devices include other Wi-Fi enabled devices, microwaves, antennas, cordless or cellular telephones, or televisions.
Tip 7: Try connecting to a different home Wifi network. If it successfully connects, it may be that your router’s settings only allow identified devices to connect– or your router only allows a limited number of devices to connect.
Can I use the baby monitor without WiFi?
- Internet connection to the WiFi router is only required for setup and to enable remote accessibility. If connection to WiFi router fails or if WAN is unplugged (back of router) after installation; you will only lose the ability to remotely view the camera. The baby monitor will continue to work; you can see/hear the video/audio from the camera at the dedicated parent unit provided that the router is connected to an electrical outlet.
The image of my baby is unclear/fuzzy hard to see.

Tip 2: Try moving the baby unit closer to your infant.
Tip 3: The parent unit may be too far away from the baby unit. Try moving them closer together however; not closer than 3 feet. The operating range is 150 feet indoors; however; that may vary depending on environmental conditions and other interferences such as wall; doors etc.
